Rochelle Raya

Rochelle was first inspired to become a musician when she saw James Brown in concert when she was eight years old, and then at thirteen years old she managed to grab a discarded harmonica at a Sly and The Famy Stone concert. She is self taught, and credits Lee oskar as  a big influence, along with Paul Butterfield and John Mayall.

An AZ Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Rochelle was first noticed in the Phoenix blues scene in 1990 as a member of ‘Just Cuz’, a band that made it to annual Memphis International Blues Challenge twice, and along with Lila Sherman, is a founding member of Sistah Blue.
